Hi everyone, I joined the Gumnut Gardens team in January 2017. I am delighted to lead a team that celebrates and acknowledges children’s learning and the role of the environment to further enhance and scaffold individual children’s learning dispositions. My observations of the children’s engagement in their surrounds and the staff interactions with the children were key factors in my decision to join this team.
I have worked in the Early Childhood sector for many years and in long day programs for the past twenty one years. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to tutor at Western Sydney University (WSU). I graduated from a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2015. Hence, I teach in the areas of pedagogy, leadership and professional experience. I see my University work as my ongoing professional development. My tertiary teaching reflects my interest in children’s learning. I have researched, written and presented on organizational culture, described as: what we do ‘round here. I am intrigued and curious to learn about the influence of leadership on organisational culture. In effect, by moving to Gumnut Gardens I have presented myself with an action research project.
In my previous employment I managed a 55 place long day program and worked with a team of 18 staff. Gumnut Gardens has an exciting and current early years learning program. I enjoy being the beneficiary of initiatives introduced by previous directors and the Gumnut Gardens Team that identify and inform this interesting and inspiring early years learning program.
Please come and introduce yourself to me, I look forward to meeting you and your children.
